A man is dead after a shooting involving Chandler police Sunday morning. Chandler police confirmed the shooting at an apartment complex near Chandler Boulevard and Dobson Road. Police say they initially got a call around 3 a.m. for a report of a home invasion and sexual assault. The victim and suspect moved outside and multiple people reportedly started calling 911. Police say the suspect, since identified as Tyson Cobb, was a stranger to the victim Police say Cobb lived at the same complex as the victim and barricaded himself in his apartment. He eventually left the apartment with a knife. Officers then say Cobb tried breaking into other apartments at the complex, and at times was running across the roof before "less lethal force" was used. Police then say the man jumped down and confronted two officers. A member of the SWAT team and a patrol officer then reportedly fired at Cobb. Cobb was pronounced dead at the hospital. No officers were hurt in the shooting. Police say body-worn cameras were activated, but the footage has not yet been released. This incident is still under investigation. "It's just really surreal because you see this person every day," said one neighbor who didn't want her name shared. She and her husband invited ABC15 into their apartment. The couple shared what they heard and saw just outside their window. "There was about three screams," said the woman. "The first one woke me up initially, and then I heard about two more after that." She said this was around 3 a.m. "I hear these two really loud noises, that I thought was construction at first," said the husband. He said he got up to make his Sunday coffee when he heard the shooting. "I looked outside and then it was boom, boom, boom and more boom, boom, boom and that’s when I walked out and saw the SWAT in single file and a person laying down," said the neighbor. The two neighbors ABC15 talked to said they reported Cobb multiple times to apartment management, and he needed help. "We ran from other neighborhoods to get here," said the man. "Thinking this was the best that we could afford as far as safety and security to end up with this." Now, they want to leave. "We need to move, and I mean as soon as possible," said the husband.
