On April 23, 2024, Hoboken Police Officers were dispatched to the ShopRite grocery store, where loss prevention agents had detained a man for shoplifting. Even while processing one shoplifter, loss prevention officer "Felix" was watching another man on camera. When that man appears to heading for the exit with unpaid merchandise, Felix jumps into action and that man is also detained. Meanwhile, the original shoplifter is too large to fit in the back of the police car, so officers get creative in the way they are going to get him to the police station. Because of the relatively low amount of goods that the 2nd man stole, he was released with a trespass warning. The first man pled guilty to shoplifting on May 28, 2024, and was fined $415 and sentenced to 10 days of community service.
