A 2007 BMW 530 had crashed hard. The car looked wrecked. A tree lay fallen. A utility pole blocked the road. Airbags had popped inside. Roman walked to the driver. Goez checked the passenger. The driver was 20-year-old Evelyn. She seemed awake but drunk. Her passenger lay still, out cold. The officers called medics and firefighters right away. Evelyn said she felt cold. They took her to a patrol car to warm up. Medics checked her there. They put her passenger on a stretcher. An ambulance sped him to Hackensack University Medical Center. Cops arrested Evelyn. They walked her to the ambulance. She went to the same hospital for checks. Hackensack Auto Body and Towing hauled her BMW away under John's Law. PSE&G fixed the pole. Public works cleared the tree and mess. A car search found an open booze bottle. At the hospital, Evelyn agreed to a blood test. Results showed her alcohol level at 0.200%. That's twice the 0.08% limit. Cops gave her tickets for drunk driving, underage drunk driving, reckless driving, careless driving, and open container. On July 11, 2023, court said she was guilty of drunk driving and careless driving. She got a breath-lock on her car for seven months. She sat through 12 hours at a drunk driver class.
