What would you say if you knew you were going to die? Some people might say something profound, some might say something funny, some might say nothing at all. But one man said something that became famous: “You can be a king or a street sweeper, but everyone dances with the grim reaper.” That man was Robert Alton Harris, a cold-blooded killer who murdered two teenage boys in 1978. He and his brother kidnapped them, shot them in the head, and then used their car to rob a bank. One of the boys was the son of a police officer who arrested Harris, but he didn’t recognize his own child’s face because of the brutality of the crime. Harris was sentenced to death in 1979, but he spent 13 years on death row, appealing his case. He finally met his fate in 1992, when he was executed in a gas chamber. His last words were a chilling reminder that no one can escape death. #facts
