On May 7, 2026, Las Cruces Police Officers responded to a gas station after receiving a report of a woman passed out in her car at a gas pump. Sgt. Rogers arrived first and was able to wake the 24-year-old woman up. He immediately noticed three things: (1) the smell of alcohol coming from the vehicle; (2) an open container of Twisted Tea in the vehicle; and (3) that the woman had a massive cut and bruise on her chin. The woman claimed a man hit her several hours earlier and she had been asleep at the gas station for about an hour. Sgt. Rogers instructed her to exit the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She was placed under arrest and refused to provide breath samples. She was transported to the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she was charged with Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor.
