According to the report, the woman attempted to use Apple Pay, but the transaction reportedly failed because of insufficient funds. Rather than immediately escalating the situation, officers attempt to find another way to get the bill paid. They even contact the woman’s mother to see if she can help cover the tab, but she tells officers she is unable to pay it. With the restaurant still waiting for payment and no successful way to settle the bill, what started as a $55 meal quickly becomes a much more serious situation.
