The Los Angeles Police Department’s Force Investigation Division is investigating a Law Enforcement Related Injury (LERI) that occurred in the Rampart Division on September 4, 2025, involving a barricaded suspect armed with a knife. According to preliminary information, officers responded around 8:20 a.m. to reports of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 300 block of South La Fayette Park Place. The suspect, identified as 40-year-old Julian Douglas, was reportedly seen at the front gate of a residence waving a butcher knife. When officers arrived, they observed Douglas with blood on her hands, refusing to drop the weapon. She barricaded herself inside a nearby apartment closet, still armed. After hours of unsuccessful negotiations, SWAT officers deployed CS gas, TASER Shockwave, and SAGE rounds to subdue her safely. Douglas was struck by two less-lethal SAGE rounds and taken into custody without further incident. She was later hospitalized for injuries related to the use of force. No officers or community members were injured. This case remains under active investigation by the LAPD Force Investigation Division.
