On June 18, 2025, deputies from the Santa Fe County Sheriff's Office responded to a motor vehicle accident. The 28-year-old driver of the at-fault vehicle admitted to side swiping the other vehicle, but denied damaging the other vehicle's tire and rim. However, that the only damage caused during the accident. She repeatedly indicated to Deputy Ward that she was not responsible for the damaged tire and rim. Deputy Ward observed slurred speech and the smell of alcohol coming from the woman and asked her to perform field sobriety tests. The woman repeatedly stated she needed her father to be present at the scene. She completed the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, but refused to perform the other standardized tests. She was then arrested for Driving While Under the Influence. She refused to submit to a breath test and was transported to the Santa Fe County Adult Detention Center. Her charges are discussed at the end of the video. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
