A late-night crash turns into a full DWI arrest — and the entire investigation is captured on police bodycam. Just after 12:20 AM on April 15, 2022, officers respond to Mountain Ave and Raymond Street after a white Nissan Rogue jumped the curb, smashed through a pedestrian crossing sign, hit landscaping rocks, and came to rest in the middle of the roadway. The windshield is cracked. Both airbags have deployed. Debris is in the street. The driver, identified in the police report as Yanell Barrientos, tells officers she was just trying to make a right turn. She says the area was dark, she didn’t really know the road, and she “must have hit a pole.” She keeps repeating that she’s never been in an accident before and she’s scared. On scene, officers note the smell of alcohol on her breath. She admits she was out for dinner with coworkers and had “three drinks — Tito’s.” She insists she’s not drunk, she’s fine, and she just wants to go home, get her car towed, and make it to work in the morning. Police begin a full DWI investigation on camera: • Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (eye tracking test) • Alphabet / coordination test • Walk-and-turn on the line • One-leg-stand while counting “1001, 1002, 1003…” During the tests she struggles to follow instructions, loses balance, and becomes emotional. She apologizes over and over, says this has never happened to her in her life, and begs officers not to ruin her job, her future, or her relationship. She tells them her fiancé is a police officer and says, “I’m not a bad person. I work hard. Please don’t do this to me.” Based on what they observe, officers tell her she is under the influence and place her under arrest for suspected DWI (Driving While Intoxicated). She immediately panics, cries, and says this will “ruin my life,” but officers keep telling her to breathe and explain that it’s a traffic case. She is transported to headquarters for further processing and a breath test (Alcotest). According to the police report, her Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) was measured at 0.14%, which is above the legal limit of 0.08%. After processing, she is issued multiple summonses, including: • Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) • Reckless Driving / careless operation • Related traffic violations She is later released to a responsible adult, with a mandatory court date. This video shows: – The crash scene and airbag deployment – The driver saying she “only had three drinks” – Full roadside sobriety testing in real time – The exact moment officers tell her she’s under arrest – The emotional breakdown in cuffs and transport to the station All body-worn camera footage is presented for public awareness, accountability, education, and reporting on matters of public record. Everyone is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. Charges are allegations. Do not drink and drive. ————————— #Bodycam #DWI #DUI #DrunkDriving #Police #SobrietyTest #TrafficStop #Arrest #PoliceBodyCam #Transparency #Accountability #LawEnforcement #CarCrash #FieldSobrietyTest Real World Police provides unbiased and authentic footage of incidents captured on body cams.
