According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a high-speed chase began around 3 a.m. on U.S. 422 near Parkman Road when troopers attempted to stop Christina Barrios, 43, for driving left of center and nearly colliding with a patrol car. Instead of stopping, Barrios sped eastbound on U.S. 422, repeatedly driving left of center and narrowly missing another vehicle. She eventually veered off the road near Parkman Road and Taylor Street, with the vehicle’s tire grazing a tree. Despite this, Barrios continued to flee until she finally pulled over at West Market Street and State Route 45/Tod Avenue, where she was taken into custody. In footage captured by the patrol, a trooper can be heard confronting her: “You’re going over 100 miles an hour—you almost hit me head-on. When I turned on my lights, you didn’t stop. I was behind you; you stopped and kept going. You realize how dangerous the situation you put us in?” Upon her arrest, Barrios was found with 79 suspected oxycodone pills and other drug paraphernalia. She now faces charges of OVI (Operating a Vehicle Impaired), reckless operation, and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance.
