On February 8, 2024, Shrewsbury Police responded to a Shoplifting call at the Sephora cosmetics store. Loss prevention was detaining a 19-year-old woman accused of shoplifting $138.00 worth of cosmetics. Patrolman Mowder reviewed the surveillance camera footage and then placed the woman under arrest. She was transported to the Shrewsbury police headquarters, where she invoked her Miranda rights. Eventually, Patrolman Mowder drove the woman back to her vehicle in the Sephora parking lot. She was charged with 1 count of shoplifting and was released on a summons. Online court records show that on April 17, 2024, she apparently pled guilty to an amended charge of disturbing the peace. She was fined $500 plus court costs.
