On February 14, 2020, at approximately 2:30 A.M., Flagler County Sheriff’s deputies conducted a routine security check at a local gas station. Upon making contact with the occupants of a parked vehicle, deputies observed illegal narcotics in plain sight near the feet of the rear passenger, 22-year-old Austin Flores. Flores refused repeated verbal commands to keep his hands visible and began physically resisting deputies. During the altercation, officers noted Flores attempting to kick and conceal an object beneath the front passenger seat. Following his detainment, a vehicle inventory revealed a hidden 9mm firearm. As a convicted felon, Flores is legally prohibited from possessing a weapon. He was taken into custody, transported to the county detention facility, and held without bond.
