On June 5, 2025, Deputy Malik Clark with the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office was conducting traffic enforcement on I-675 South near Anvil Block when he clocked a gray Toyota Camry traveling 95 mph in a 65 zone. When the deputy attempted a traffic stop, the driver — later identified as 25-year-old Francisco Echeverria-Valdovinos — initially slowed down, activated his hazard lights, then accelerated, sparking a pursuit. The chase reached speeds of up to 110 mph as the suspect weaved through traffic, forced other vehicles from their lanes, and drove on the wrong side of the road. Deputy Clark performed a P.I.T. maneuver to stop the vehicle, which struck a guard wire and came to rest. The driver resisted arrest and was drive-stunned with a Taser before being taken into custody. A search of the vehicle uncovered a backpack containing four Glock 9 mm pistols, screwdrivers, Dodge key fobs, a key-copying computer, and a jar of raw marijuana weighing 42.6 grams. Two of the recovered Glocks were confirmed stolen — one from DeKalb PD and another from Atlanta PD.
