On December 13, 2025, CHP officers in Del Norte County contacted a Dodge Charger stopped on the shoulder of US-101 near Wunderstump Road. The driver said the car had run out of gas after leaving the 101 Bar in Brookings, Oregon. While officers investigated the driver for possible DUI, her father arrived in a separate vehicle with gas for her car. Officers observed signs of alcohol impairment from both drivers, including red and watery eyes, unsteady balance, slurred speech, and the odor of an alcoholic beverage. The daughter later provided chemical breath test results of 0.18% and 0.19% BAC. The father’s preliminary alcohol screening showed 0.083% and 0.084% BAC, followed by chemical breath test results of 0.08% and 0.07% BAC. Both individuals were arrested and booked into the Del Norte County Jail on the following charges: 23152(A) - DUI Alcohol/Drugs 23152(B) - DUI Alcohol W/BAC Above .08 California Highway Patrol Officers involved: Officer D.
