On March 15, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officer Haughney stopped a vehicle after the driver was observed crossing over the fog line of the roadway. He initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, which was being driven by a 55-year-old woman. Officer Haughney mentions that he can smell alcohol coming from the vehicle, so he asks the woman to step out in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. She ends up getting arrested for her 2nd DUI. She refused to provide breath tests, elevating her charge to Aggravated DUI. She was also charged with Careless Driving. On July 1, 2025, she pleaded guilty to an amended charge of Non-Aggravated DUI. She was required to attend DUI School, perform Community Service, and install an Ignition Interlock Device on her vehicle.
