An NYPD officer on horseback galloped down the streets of Manhattan in a chase you have to see to believe, and the woman he caught has a past that will shock you. It was a quiet afternoon on the Upper West Side when Officer Kyle McLaughlin was patrolling near West 72nd Street and Columbus Avenue on his trusted horse Kelly. Then he heard a woman scream. Her purse had just been stolen. What followed was straight out of a movie. Officer McLaughlin spurred Kelly into a full gallop down crowded city streets, weaving between cars as the suspect tried desperately to escape on foot. Pedestrians scrambled out of the way. The cop kept yelling for her to stop. She wouldn't. But here's what makes this case wild. The woman they finally caught wasn't just any purse snatcher. She had been released from prison only one year earlier after serving 24 years for a crime so serious she's on lifetime parole. She had already been arrested twice since her release and let go both times. Sometimes the old ways still work best. ⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This footage is shared for educational and informational purposes only. All footage is publicly released by law enforcement agencies.
