On December 5, 2020, officers conducted a traffic stop after observing a vehicle speeding and disregarding a traffic signal. During the stop, officers detected the odor of cannabis coming from inside the vehicle. The driver admitted to smoking earlier in the day and consented to a search of both his person and the vehicle. During the search, officers recovered approximately 13 grams of crack cocaine from the driver’s pocket, along with a bag containing cannabis. Inside the vehicle, officers located additional suspected cocaine and multiple THC vape cartridges. Based on the quantity of narcotics recovered, officers determined the amount was consistent with distribution rather than personal use. When officers attempted to place the driver into custody, he resisted arrest by tensing his muscles and pulling his arms away. After a brief struggle, a taser was deployed to gain compliance, and he was safely taken into custody. He was transported for medical clearance before being booked on charges including Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Cannabis, Resisting a Peace Officer, and multiple traffic violations.
