While traveling southbound on Ravenna Avenue (SR44) near the Allen Drive intersection, An Officer with the Marlboro Police Dept observed a blue Dodge Neon traveling northbound on SR44 at a high rate of speed. The radar indicated the vehicle was moving at 70 MPH in a posted 45 MPH zone. The officer made a U-turn to initiate a traffic stop, but the vehicle continued at a high speed and turned onto Allen Drive, attempting to evade the officer. The vehicle turned onto a dead-end street at the 7500 block of Allen Drive. That is when the officer drove up to the vehicle and instructed the driver to stop driving. The vehicle's registration read JTX3858. Cencom informed the Officer that the license plate was registered to a 1994 Chevy Tahoe. The officer reread the license plate, and it was confirmed that it did not belong to the Dodge Neon. Cencom also informed the Officer that the registered owner was Kyle Hostetler, who had an active warrant for drag racing and a suspended driver’s license. The Officer approached the vehicle and identified the driver as Kyle Hostetler. Hostetler admitted to speeding and stated that he had just acquired the vehicle and was driving fast. When asked about the license plate, Hostetler stated that he had not registered the Neon and had taken the plate off his old truck. Officer Samaniego asked Hostetler to exit the vehicle and informed him of the warrant for his arrest. The officer placed handcuffs on Hostetler, patted him down, and placed him in the police cruiser. An inventory of the vehicle revealed only tools inside. Hostetler's father was called and took possession of all the tools. Marlboro Towing was called to tow the vehicle. Hostetler was transported to Police Headquarters and processed. He received citations for speeding, driving under suspension (DUS), and fictitious plates. Hostetler was then transported to Stark County Jail without incident. The court date was set for 07/08/2024, as Hostetler stated he would be on vacation in another state. Hostetler claimed to have financial responsibility but did not show proof to the officer. ⚠️Note: Footage from this video was obtained via the Ohio Public Records Act (R.C. 149.43) All persons featured on the channel are to be presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
