Lower Township Police Sergeant William Barcas saw a speeding Jeep Renegade. The Jeep flew down Townbank Road at 68 MPH in a 40 MPH zone. It also hit a curb. The driver seemed to have trouble controlling the car. Barcas pulled the Jeep over near the Seashore Road Bridge. The driver was a 24-year-old woman named Ava. Sergeant Barcas approached the Jeep and said she was driving like a "lunatic". Ava confessed she drank alcohol before driving. Sergeant Barcas went back to his car. He needed to check her license and registration. Patrolman Louis Bartleson got there at 11:36 PM. He was there to help Barcas. The officers thought Ava seemed impaired. They asked her to get out of the car. She then had to do some sobriety tests. First came the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Then came the Walk and Turn test. Ava struggled on the Walk and Turn. She did not touch heel-to-toe, and her turn was bad. The last exercise was the One Leg Stand. Ava could not lift her foot right. She also lacked balance. Ava’s driving was all over the place. Patrolman Bartleson smelled booze. Ava said she drank alcohol before driving. She failed the roadside tests. Bartleson arrested Ava for driving under the influence. Her car was impounded because of John’s Law for 12 hours. She was taken to the Lower Township Police Department. The police needed to process her. Ava faced the Lower Township Police. They read her the Motor Vehicle Operator Statement. Ava agreed to give breath samples. The Alcotest showed a BAC of 0.19%. This was more than double the 0.08% legal limit. Officers finished their paperwork. Ava's father signed a Liability Warning Form. Then, they released her to him. She got summonses for several violations. These included: DUI, reckless driving, and speeding. She also failed to maintain her lane. The court says Ava was guilty of drunk driving on October 3, 2023. Her punishment included a four-month license suspension. For nine months, she must use a special device in her car. Ava also had to spend 12 hours at a center for drunk drivers. She paid $690 in fines. As part of a deal, three other tickets were dropped. 13:03 Yes, let her put her shoes back on. 14:52 you're not going to jail or anything 28:20 what a fckn joke.. 30:16 Murphy has significantly reduced the penalties for DUI 35:08 Intoxicated driving 25 demerits If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
