19:21 - 27:52 - Flash Warning On April 11, 2024, Roswell Police Officer Shappard observed a vehicle stopped at an intersection with a green light. When the vehicle eventually began moving, Officer Shappard initiated a traffic stop. The 19-year-old driver indicated she was unlicensed and had used cannabis about 1 hour prior. Based on these facts, she was asked to step out of the vehicle in order to perform standardized field sobriety tests. Shortly thereafter, she was placed under arrest for DUI. She was taken to the local emergency room for a blood draw and was eventually transported to the Chaves County Detention Center. She was charged with driving while under the influence of drugs, impeding traffic, and being an unlicensed driver. Her case is still open. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
