Bodycam footage shows a Chesterfield Police officer stopping a pickup truck pulling a trailer after observing multiple commercial vehicle violations. During the investigation, officers discovered the driver did not have a valid driver's license or CDL and were unable to positively identify him through records in Michigan or Kansas. After officers continued investigating, the driver admitted that he had entered the United States illegally. Incident: On July 28, 2026, a Chesterfield Police officer observed a pickup truck pulling a trailer with multiple violations. Due to the combined weight of the truck and trailer, the vehicle qualified as a commercial motor vehicle. During the traffic stop, officers learned that the driver did not have a valid driver's license or CDL. Despite checking the information he provided, officers and dispatch were unable to locate records that would positively identify him in either Michigan or Kansas. After extensive communication through a translator app, officers continued questioning the driver in an attempt to establish his identity. During the investigation, the driver admitted that he had entered the United States illegally. The driver was placed under arrest for Operating Without a License, while the company was issued a citation involving commercial vehicle violations. At booking, officers were still unable to positively identify the driver and contacted Border Patrol for assistance. A Border Patrol agent responded and was able to identify him through their database. Officers also learned that the driver had previously been fingerprinted in Kansas for Operating Without a License and had been arrested in Missouri for Operating While Intoxicated. He had also been arrested in Oklahoma for Felony Operating While Intoxicated and Reckless Operation of a Vessel. After the booking process was completed, the driver was turned over to Border Patrol for further investigation. He is currently scheduled to appear in court on November 2, 2026, in connection with the Operating Without a License charge in Chesterfield. The current status of the Border Patrol investigation and what action was ultimately taken regarding his immigration status is unknown.
