Monroe County Sheriff's Deputy Jonathan Lane conducts a traffic stop on a silver Volkswagen in Big Pine Key, Florida after observing erratic driving behavior. The driver, 35-year-old Darla, fails to stop immediately when emergency lights are activated. Upon finally stopping at a residential address, she exits her vehicle without instruction and approaches the deputy. Deputy Lane issues more than 20 verbal commands for the suspect to return to her vehicle and place her hands behind her head. The suspect repeatedly refuses to comply. Deputy Lane deploys his taser in warning mode. During the arrest, the suspect's ex-boyfriend emerges from the residence and interferes with the traffic stop, nearly resulting in his own arrest for obstruction.
