Video Description: Want to read the police reports? Consider becoming a super supporter! Incident Information: On December 29th, 2024 at 7:30am, a Michigan State Police Trooper was dispatched to an emergency welfare check in Manchester, Michigan. The suspect, identified as Benjamin Beck, called his wife and made concerning statements before leaving his children with a neighbor. Ben left in an unknown direction, and his whereabouts and state of mind were unknown for roughly a half hour. At roughly 8am the same morning, shots rang out in the Saline Police Department parking lot. Shortly after, Washtenaw County 911 received an alarming phone call. Police arrived on scene quickly and established a perimeter. After making contact with Ben, he was taken into custody without incident. No additional shots were fired after police arrived. The Saline Police Department was assisted by the Pittsfield Township Police, Ann Arbor Police, Milan Police, and context was provided by the Michigan State Police. Benjamin was held on a $250,000 bond. He was charged with felony discharging a firearm in or at a building and carrying a concealed weapon. Ultimately, Ben was sentenced to 100 days in the Washtenaw County Jail with credit for 100 days time served, two years of probation, 50 hours of community service, and $1,809 in fines and court costs.
