On April 23, 2024, Prairie Grove Police Officers were called to the scene of a motor vehicle accident. Corporal Burgess interviewed both parties, who gave conflicting information about what had occurred. During his interview of the 25-year-old female driver of one of the vehicles, Corporal Burgess detected the smell of alcohol. He asked the woman to perform standardized field sobriety tests, which included a portable breath test (PBT). The result was 0.220% BAC. She was placed under arrest for DUI and was transported to the Farmington Police Station for an evidential breath test (EBT). The result of the EBT was 0.24% BAC. She was then transported to the Washington County Jail, where she was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, Endangering the Welfare of a Minor (2 counts), and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Insurance. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
