There was a Glock on the passenger seat with an extended magazine, no round chambered. This is the part most retellings get wrong, so the film lets the officer say it: it is not against the law to have a gun in your car unless you are a convicted felon. The firearm was legally registered to Carti, a background check showed no felony convictions, and no firearm charge was ever brought. At his request, his uncle came and collected the weapon. What the officer objects to is not the gun — it is being told there was nothing in the car. He was taken in and booked. A fan recognised him during the booking process. No court disposition for these charges could be found on the public record. One report says he came away from it with a clean slate.
