Body camera video from the Volusia County Sheriff's Office of the arrest of a group of juveniles for the attempted robbery of a pawn/gun store. Location: Volusia County, Florida, United States Date: May 20, 2020 (Wednesday) Volusia County Sheriff's Office: *WARNING: Strong language in this video* Around 3:05 a.m., while on routine patrol, Orange City Police Department Sergeant Jason Ward observed three subjects attempting to break into the Central Florida Pawn and Gun store at 1065 N. Volusia Ave., Orange City. Upon sight of law enforcement, the subjects got into a black Nissan Altima and fled the area. Sgt. Ward attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver continued to flee south toward DeBary. Orange City police officers maintained a visual on the vehicle while relaying information to other responding officers. Volusia Sheriff's Deputy Custer successfully deployed stop sticks near the intersection of Enterprise Road and South Volusia Avenue, puncturing one of the suspect’s tires. The vehicle continued fleeing into DeBary, ultimately stopping in the parking lot of St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 26 Dogwood Trail. The four occupants jumped out of the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies immediately set up a perimeter in the area, and Deputy Zimmerer began tracking with K-9 Koda. Zimmerer and Koda tracked to the dead end of Eagle Estates Drive, where all four suspects were apprehended and taken into custody. It was determined that all four suspects are juveniles (13-16 years of age) several with prior criminal records and all are from Orange County. One of the suspects, age 15, has recent charges of robbery by sudden snatching, burglary during a state of emergency, grand theft of a firearm, grand theft and larceny, as well as a litany of previous charges that include but are not limited to aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, assault and battery. Another suspect, age 13, initially gave a false name but was later identified and determined to have many of the same charges on his record. Investigation also revealed the Nissan Altima was reported stolen out of Orange County on May 18. The arrestees were processed and charges include: Attempted Burglary, Grand Theft Auto, Fleeing/Eluding Law Enforcement, Trespassing, Resisting without Violence and Operating a vehicle without a Driver’s License.
