Houston police have released details on a fatal officer-involved shooting that happened early Wednesday morning, July 9, at a home on West 13th Street. The incident began the night before, when CenterPoint Energy workers reported being harassed by a woman during a gas leak response. When officers arrived, the 39-year-old suspect barricaded herself inside, wearing body armor and showing both a handgun and a rifle from an upstairs window. Negotiators and SWAT were called in after she pointed a loaded rifle at officers. Hours later, the suspect again aimed the weapon toward police, prompting an HPD Tactical Operations officer to fire. She was pronounced dead at the scene. No officers were injured.
