On July 12, 2025, Rio Rancho Police Officers were dispatched to a single car motor vehicle accident. Officer Albano arrived and met with Sandoval County Sheriff's Deputy Turner, who was standing by with the 53-year-old driver of a Toyota Prius. The woman initially denied consuming alcohol, but when Officer Haughney arrived, the woman admitted to drinking. She was asked to perform standardized field sobriety tests. At the conclusion of the tests, she was placed under arrest for Driving While Under the Influence (DWI). At the Rio Rancho Police Station, she agreed to provide breath samples, which registered 0.21% and 0.19% BAC. Her case is still open and all suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
