On April 9, 2026, police responded to a convenience store after employees asked for two individuals to be removed from the property. Staff told officers the pair had caused a disturbance after being asked to leave, and while the woman gathered her belongings and exited the store, the man refused repeated orders to leave or identify himself. When officers attempted to arrest the man for trespassing and resisting, he fought with the officer near the front entrance, knocking the officer's body camera from his vest during the struggle. As the arrest continued, the woman returned to the scene, picked up the body camera from the ground, pointed it at the officer, and refused repeated commands to drop it while continuing to approach. After ignoring multiple warnings, she was pepper-sprayed, threw the body camera back toward the officer, and ran from the store. Another customer recovered the camera and returned it to the officer. The man continued resisting until he was also pepper-sprayed, taken into custody, transported for medical clearance, and then booked into jail.
