Baton Rouge, Louisiana — Police bodycam footage shows the moment officers were forced to fire after an armed man refused every command to drop his weapon.On Sunday, September 6th, 2026, around 5:45 pm, Baton Rouge Police Officers responded to a complaint about a male subject threatening people with a rifle. Two officers arrived at the apartments of 750 Harding Blvd. and found the subject on the second-floor balcony, seated in a chair.The subject no longer had a rifle — but he was now holding a handgun, and he was still highly agitated and yelling. Officers gave repeated commands for him to raise his hands. He ignored them. They then gave numerous commands to put the gun down. Those were ignored too.As officers closed in and continued ordering him to "put down the gun," the subject suddenly jumped up from his chair while still armed. One officer fired a single shot, striking him.Officers recovered the handgun and immediately began rendering aid. The subject, later identified as Johnny Bradley, was transported by EMS to a hospital and is in stable condition. A search of his apartment recovered a rifle — corroborating the original complaint called in by fellow residents.
