On November 03, 2024, while on a routine patrol, an officer with the Dayton, Ohio, police department observed an altercation outside an apartment building. All but one of the participants fled inside after noticing the patrol car. The remaining woman explained to the officer that she was outside her ex-girlfriend’s residence seeking the return of her keys and phone so she could be on her way. The responding officer signaled for backup and went inside to attempt to retrieve the items. Once backup arrived, the woman frantically informed the officers that her ex had sneaked out the back door of the apartment and driven off with her vehicle. Officers pleaded with the ex-girlfriend’s associates to return with the vehicle. The young woman soon returned, again sneaking in through the rear entrance, but was uncooperative with the police. After the arrest, the suspect debated racial and civil rights issues with her arresting officer, including a conspiracy theory linked to the unsolved murder of African-American Dayton Police Officer Kevin Brame on November 01, 1999. Meanwhile, the remaining officers on site had a difficult time locating the alleged stolen vehicle.
