A Daytona Beach man is arrested shortly after midnight following an open container violation. What begins as a routine stop escalates when officers allege the man threw a bottle cork at a deputy. The arrest report describes repeated strikes to the subject as "distractionary blows." Daytona Beach Police Chief Jakari Young publicly addressed the video, stating the footage "is concerning." The involved officer has been reassigned to administrative duties pending an internal investigation. Daytona Beach Mayor Derrick Henry also responded, calling the images in the video "troubling" and stating the matter will not be "swept away." The subject, David Anderson, 27, of Tennessee, was charged with battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
