She repeatedly questioned officers, made excuses, and even tried to bargain by offering to pay for the items, but officers proceeded with the investigation and arrest. Because the alleged value of the merchandise exceeded Illinois’s felony threshold, she faced a felony retail theft charge, though the allegation had not been resolved in court.
