A reported $400 shoplifting attempt at Walmart turns into an unusual Oklahoma City police pursuit as a suspect takes off in a white lifted pickup truck — driving through grass, fields, parking lots, and off-road terrain while officers try to catch up! The incident began Tuesday, October 6, at the Walmart near Penn and Memorial in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Police responded to a report of an attempted theft, but the suspect allegedly abandoned the merchandise before fleeing in the pickup. Dashcam footage captures the pursuit as it moves through the Walmart parking lot, onto the Kilpatrick Turnpike, and toward the Broadway Extension. The truck reportedly reaches speeds of up to 80 mph before the driver takes officers through tall grass and weeds near 122nd Street. The pursuit continues to a warehouse parking lot off Holmboe Avenue, where the driver circles the lot before heading back into a field. After repeatedly stopping and taking off again, the suspect eventually abandons the truck near railroad tracks and runs away on foot. The passenger was taken into custody, but according to the report, the driver remained at large as of Thursday. Police had not confirmed whether the driver was later apprehended.
