A woman stole a modified C5 Corvette from a Walmart parking lot, pretended to pull over for an Arkansas state trooper — then floored it. A textbook PIT ended it. On June 20, 2024, police in Pocahontas, Arkansas learned a Corvette had been stolen from a Walmart lot, with the driver believed impaired and on a suspended license. An off-duty officer spotted it on U.S. 63 near Sedgwick, and an ASP trooper took over. The Corvette pulled over as if complying, then accelerated to about 113 mph. After the driver ignored commands to stop, the trooper executed a TVI/PIT maneuver that ended the pursuit with no damage to state property. The driver was taken into custody and charged with driving on a suspended license, improper passing, running a red light, reckless driving, fleeing with substantial risk, and DUI (drugs); Pocahontas PD also charged vehicle theft.
