Canton, Ohio — July 7, 2026 What began as a search for a wanted man turned into a series of pursuits, a serious crash, an officer-involved shooting and a second pursuit that ended with a rollover crash. At approximately 3:21 p.m., Ohio State Troopers were alerted to be on the lookout for a gray Kia Telluride driven by 39-year-old Julius Edwards. According to the information provided, Edwards had fled from Canton police officers and U.S. Marshals and was wanted in connection with an attempted murder in Canton. Later that evening, Flock camera technology helped identify the vehicle. At approximately 7:27 p.m., troopers located the Kia on Darrow Road in Hudson and attempted to stop it. The vehicle failed to stop and a pursuit began. While fleeing, Edwards reportedly ran a red light at Terex Road, resulting in a serious-injury crash involving multiple victims. Following the crash, Edwards reportedly abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. During the pursuit, he fired at a pursuing trooper, resulting in an officer-involved shooting. The trooper returned fire before Edwards fled into nearby woods. Law enforcement established a perimeter and continued searching for him. Just before 8:25 p.m., troopers reportedly located Edwards driving a stolen silver Chrysler Town & Country that he had allegedly carjacked. Troopers attempted another traffic stop, but the Chrysler again failed to stop. A second pursuit involving multiple law-enforcement agencies lasted approximately 10 minutes. The pursuit ended near Saybrooke Boulevard and Bunker Lane, where Edwards struck a Summit Metro Parks cruiser, causing the vehicle to roll over. Edwards exited the vehicle and attempted to flee again, but Stow Police Department officers and patrol troopers took him into custody without further incident. The Summit Metro Parks officer involved in the crash sustained minor injuries. No other law-enforcement injuries were reported in the information provided. According to Canton Municipal Court online records, Edwards was facing charges including attempted murder, felonious assault and domestic violence in connection with a stabbing reported in Canton the previous Tuesday. This video is presented for documentary, informational and public-interest purposes, showing the events captured during the law-enforcement response.
