This Street Cop Bodycam video captures a DWI arrest involving a child passenger, turning a routine traffic stop into a serious and emotional situation. A mother is pulled over for speeding, unsafe lane changes, and failing to signal. She admits to having “just one beer earlier,” but during field sobriety tests, clear signs of impairment appear — difficulty maintaining balance, starting tests early, failing the one-leg stand, and eye movement clues during the HGN test. What raises the stakes even higher is the presence of her young daughter in the backseat. Despite the pressure of the moment, the officer remains calm, patient, and professional — explaining each test clearly, allowing accommodations, and prioritizing safety over escalation. After multiple failed tests, the driver is arrested, and careful steps are taken to arrange family pickup so the child is not left in distress. This case is a powerful reminder that “just one” can still be too much, especially when a child’s safety is on the line.
