On January 9, 2023, Hinckley Police Officers responded to a report of a hit & run accident. One of the 2 vehicles hit was able to follow the at-fault vehicle until it became disabled. Officers made contact with the 21-year-old driver of the Cadillac. She told a story about texting and driving while on her way home to get some paperwork needed for her job. In reality, she had consumed a bunch of alcohol in the morning before work and was driving home to change her clothes because she had peed her pants. After failing a series of standardized field sobriety tests, she was administered a portable breath test and the result was 0.072% BAC. Officers then learned that she had a previous DUI arrest about a year prior. She was arrested on numerous charges and transported to the Ohio State Patrol barracks where she submitted to an evidential breath test. The result was 0.128% BAC. She was charged with Operating a Vehicle Impaired (2nd offense), having a blood alcohol concentration over 0.08%, failing to stop at an accident, and failing to maintain a safe distance. On July 25, 2023, she pled guilty to OVI and failing to stop at an accident. She was sentenced to 30 days in jail and fined $1300. In addition, she was placed on probation for 1 year and her driver's license was suspended for 3 years.
