Location: Muskogee, Muskogee County, Oklahoma, United States Date: May 4, 2020 (Monday) Muskogee Police Department: Timeline: (May 3rd to May 4th) • 2357 Hours: Dispatch receives a call from an anonymous person that has information to give to an officer about something that happened in Tulsa last night. • 0013 Hours: After meeting with the anonymous caller, officers determined that the information was about a Homicide in Tulsa and Demontre Bruner was the suspect. One possible address was 524 S. 13th Street in Muskogee. • 0028 Hours: Dispatch receives a call from a second anonymous caller about Demontre Bruner being the suspect in the Tulsa Homicide and that he was in Muskogee. • 0053 Hours: Officers get information that Bruner left the residence at 524 S. 13th within the last 5 to 8 minutes and he was armed. Officers responded to the area on South 13th Street. • 0056 Hours: An officer drives by 524 S. 13th and sees a subject matching the description of Bruner on the porch. That subject ran Eastbound and the officer loses sight of him in the dark. • 0058 Hours: Officers confirm through an anonymous caller that the subject running was in fact Bruner, he was armed, and he was planning to return to Tulsa to kill his Uncle. Officers immediately set up a perimeter to contain the suspect and contacted the K9 units to start a track. • 0103 Hours: Officers Leach, Gilbreth, and Griffith (K9 Loki) stage in front of 524 S. 13th and wait for additional K9 units to arrive before they start a track. They were told that the suspect did have one hand in his hoodie when he was running. EMS is requested to stage in the area as standard procedure. • 0120 Hours: Supervisor confirms with Tulsa PD Investigators that there is enough probable cause to arrest Bruner for Homicide. TPD is faxing a copy of the report. A picture of Bruner is distributed to the officers preparing to go on the track. • 0130 Hours: Lt. Dean, Officers Leach, Griffith, Hignite, Lynch, and Gilbreth start track. • 0150 Hours: Officers on the track see the suspect run South across an alley East of 12th Street towards Fremont. Suspect is still in the gray hoodie and blue jeans. Lt. Dean has perimeter units adjust accordingly. • 0152 Hours: In an ambush style attack the suspect fires on the officers while laying down in a concealed position behind cover. • 0153 Hours: Lt. Dean radios that there has been an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and officers. His is unsure if the suspect has been hit. No officers have been shot. He then requests SWAT respond to their location for an open air barricade. Officer Leach begins to attempt to make verbal contact with the suspect and continues until the suspect is in custody. • 0154 Hours: Lt. Dean requests armored vehicle or ballistic shield. • 0158 Hours: Lt. Dean requests EMS to enter the “warm zone” so they are prepared to render aid to the suspect as soon as it is safe for them to do so. • 0203 Hours: A ballistic shield is on scene and an approach is made towards the suspect. A handgun that is still in the suspect’s right hand is recovered and EMS is requested to respond. Officers assist getting the suspect on the EMS stretcher. EMS transports the suspect to the hospital. • 0442 Hours: Bruner was pronounced dead at a Tulsa Area Hospital.
