He turned on his lights and pulled the car over. The driver, 26-year-old Stephanie Aguilar, stopped in the parking lot of the Joyce Honda dealership. Pisano saw her minor daughter in the passenger seat and asked where they had been and whether Aguilar had consumed alcohol. She said she had. He then asked her to step out of the car. Officer Christopher Ordway arrived soon after to help. Suspecting Aguilar was impaired, Pisano offered her field sobriety tests. During the Walk and Turn test, she did not walk heel-to-toe or turn as directed. She also failed to raise her foot as instructed during the One Leg Stand test. Ordway conducted the final test, the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Pisano cited Aguilar's excessive speed, erratic driving, and poor performance on the tests before arresting her for driving under the influence. Police searched and impounded the car for the required 12-hour period under John's Law. Pisano then took Aguilar to Denville Township Police Headquarters. There, he read her Miranda rights and the Standard Statement for Motor Vehicle Operators. Aguilar agreed to provide breath samples. After processing, Aguilar was released to her husband, who signed the Potential Liability Warning form on her behalf. Pisano issued summonses for driving under the influence with a minor passenger, driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, careless driving, improper passing on the right, and failure to maintain lane.
