Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: Just after 11:59 p.m. on November 3, 2023, West Amwell Township Patrolman James LaRocca was driving along State Highway 179. He spotted a BMW heading south at 78 mph in a 50 mph zone. As he followed, the driver suddenly crossed into the northbound lane and passed another car. LaRocca switched on his lights, and both drivers pulled over nearby. He first spoke with the other driver, who said he was the ex-boyfriend of the woman in the BMW. LaRocca then approached the BMW’s driver, later identified as Anastasiya. She told him she had tried to get away from her ex after a verbal argument and was driving home to Pennsylvania. As they spoke, LaRocca smelled alcohol on her breath. Suspecting she was impaired, he called for backup. When Officer Smith arrived, Anastasiya was asked to take field sobriety tests. LaRocca gave her the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test, followed by the Walk and Turn. She failed to touch heel to toe with each step, did not count aloud, and took too many or too few steps. On the One Leg Stand, she had trouble lifting her foot as directed and used her arms to keep her balance. Based on her driving, the smell of alcohol, and her performance on the tests, LaRocca arrested Anastasiya for DUI. Her car was impounded for at least 12 hours under John’s Law, and officers took her to the station for processing. At the station, officers read her the rights for motor vehicle operators. Anastasiya agreed to provide breath samples, and Delaware Township Sergeant Gray operated the Alcotest machine. The test showed a blood alcohol content of 0.05%. After processing, officers released her to a friend. She signed a form acknowledging potential legal responsibility and received citations for DUI, reckless driving, and speeding 25 to 29 mph over the limit. Court records show that on February 7, 2024, the DUI and speeding charges were dismissed. Anastasiya pleaded guilty to reckless driving.
