🚨 **ARKANSAS STATE POLICE PURSUIT | DRIVER REPORTEDLY REACHES 80+ MPH THROUGH WEST MEMPHIS** On August 29, 2026, Arkansas State Police Trooper Thomas was conducting traffic enforcement on Interstate 40 near the 282-mile marker when he observed a Nissan Versa traveling westbound at approximately 68 MPH in a posted 65 MPH zone. The situation escalated after the driver passed a stopped emergency vehicle and Trooper Thomas attempted to initiate a traffic stop. According to the police report, the Nissan began swerving between lanes, crossed roadway markings and eventually exited I-40 onto MLK Drive in West Memphis. Once off the interstate, the driver reportedly accelerated to approximately 65 MPH in a 45 MPH zone, passed vehicles while partially using the center turning lane and continued traveling at speeds exceeding 60 MPH. The pursuit continued onto Broadway, where the Nissan was reportedly traveling more than 80 MPH through areas with posted speed limits of 30 and 35 MPH. The driver also allegedly ran a red light, continued swerving through traffic and repeatedly braked while Troopers attempted to stop the vehicle. As the pursuit moved through a heavily populated area of West Memphis, Troopers made multiple attempts to perform a Tactical Vehicle Intervention (TVI). After several unsuccessful attempts, Trooper Thomas was eventually able to successfully perform a TVI near 8th Street, bringing the Nissan to a stop. But the incident wasn't over. The driver, identified as **James Gregory**, reportedly jumped out of the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Trooper Fultz deployed his K-9 partner, which apprehended Gregory. Troopers then took him into custody. According to the report, Trooper Thomas later observed signs of possible intoxication, including a strong odor of intoxicants, bloodshot and watery eyes, and slurred speech. At Crittenden Baptist Hospital, Gregory allegedly made statements regarding his level of intoxication and drug use before refusing to cooperate with the chemical-testing process. He was medically evaluated and later cleared for release before being transported to the Crittenden County Jail. Gregory was booked on multiple charges, including: • Passing an Authorized Vehicle Stopped on Highway • Careless and Prohibited Driving • Speeding More Than 15 MPH Over the Limit • Reckless Driving – 1st Degree • Failure to Obey Stop Sign • Failure to Obey Traffic Control Device • DWI – 1st Offense • Refusal to Submit to Chemical Test • Criminal Mischief – 2nd Degree • Fleeing in a Vehicle/Conveyance Creating a Substantial Danger of Death or Serious Physical Injury • Fleeing on Foot The police report also lists approximately **$1,100 in vehicle damage**. ⚠️ **This video is presented for news, documentary, and educational purposes.** The information in this description is based on the police report and allegations contained within it.
