A routine "suspicious person" call. Two people at a bus stop. In under two minutes, it turns into a fight — and a concealed handgun. On November 13, 2023, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police officers self-initiated a stop on a man and woman smoking marijuana at a bus stop on South Tryon Street. Both resisted. Christina Pierre struck an officer in the face — he struck back. Backup arrived, and compliance strikes were used to bring her into custody. Once Anthony Lee was detained, officers found a loaded, concealed 9mm handgun in his bag. CMPD couldn't release this footage right away — North Carolina law required a court order first. When Chief Johnny Jennings watched it, he called it "not easy to watch," and personally asked the department's attorneys to petition the court so the public could see it too. This is that footage — bodycam, street camera, and the department's own official breakdown of what happened. ⚠️ Anthony Lee and Christina Pierre are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law. CMPD's Internal Affairs review of the officers' use of force was ongoing at the time this footage was released. 📁 Chapters: 0:00 – Cold open 0:20 – Disclaimer 0:39 – The Call 1:53 – The Stop Turns Physical 3:57 – The Firearm 5:01 – The Legal Basis 6:00 – The Aftermath 8:04 – Inside the Restaurant 10:08 – The Charges 10:52 – What Happened Next 11:20 – Outro 🎥 Footage & official briefing: Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, released by court order.
