On August 16, 2025, a California Highway Patrol Sergeant spotted a red Nissan Maxima with a fraudulent temporary license plate on Interstate 5 (I-5), (The Golden State Freeway), just south of Stadium Way in Los Angeles California. The Sergeant attempted a traffic stop, but the driver later identified as off-duty armed security guard William Dorsey — refused to pull over and fled at speeds over 100 mph. The CHP pursuit continued for several minutes before the suspect exited at the Griffith Park off-ramp, where he lost control and crashed the Maxima. Dorsey was quickly detained without further incident and transported to a Los Angeles Hospital Instead of being booked into jail, he was released to the hospital staff for a medical evaluation and issued a citation to appear in court.
