University Heights, Ohio -- Police with the UHPD stopped a vehicle that was playing "exceedingly" loud music as well as not being able to see the vehicle's license plate. Police followed the man and they observed that he was "taking longer than necessary to stop". The officer immediately noticed that the car had a very strong odor of air freshener or perfume. Which the officer noted that it is common for criminals to use the smell as concealment when narcotics are present. The officer also noted that the suspect continued to have his left hand near his waist and leg, which he noted as "unconscious guarding behavior when criminals are carrying weapons or contraband." The officer was unable to find the vehicle's VIN in LEADs and needed to take a picture of the VIN on the vehicle, however this would be in front of the suspect, and as a safety measure, officers had the man get out of the car. An officer began to pat the man down when suddenly he decided to run away from the police. He tried to jump over a fence but was grabbed down and tased. During the chase, the man threw a baggie of drugs over the fence. The man claimed he threw a gun over the fence, but none was recovered. Officers eventually got the man into custody when they realized that there was a very large bulge in his pants. An officer eventually found a loaded Glock 27 with a round in the chamber in his pants. The suspect, later identified as Mr. Davione Goodrum, was INDICTED with the following: - Having Weapons Under disability (x2) (F3) - Carrying A Concealed Weapon (x1) (F4) - Tampering With Evidence (x1) (F3) - Trafficking (x5) (F4/5) - Drug Possession (x5) (F4/5) - Obstructing Official Business (x1) (F5) - Possessing Criminal Tools (x1) (F5) As of this writing, Mr. Goodrum decided to not show up to court and now has a warrant out for his arrest.
