On January 7, 2026, Toledo Police officers initiated a traffic stop in the area of Parkside Boulevard and Nebraska Avenue. The suspect vehicle fled, leading officers on a vehicle pursuit that ended in the 1100 block of South Creek Lane. According to police, the suspect—later identified as 37-year-old Henry Goodlow—exited the vehicle and fled on foot behind nearby residences. Officers gave repeated verbal commands for Goodlow to stop, which were ignored. During the foot pursuit, police state that Goodlow turned and fired multiple rounds at a pursuing officer. The officer returned fire with one round. The pursuit continued to the 1200 block of South Creek Lane, where Goodlow was taken into custody without further incident. A firearm was recovered at the scene. Investigators later determined that Goodlow had three active warrants, including two for strangulation and one for tampering with records. Henry Goodlow was charged with felonious assault, failure to comply, and having weapons under disability, in addition to the outstanding warrants. No officers or community members were injured during the incident. The involved Toledo Police officer(s) who discharged their weapons were placed on paid administrative leave in accordance with collective bargaining agreements.
