On March 28, 2025, around 1:30 a.m., LAPD Southwest Division officers attempted to stop a burgundy SUV with three occupants for possible DUI. Due to the SUV’s high speed, officers disengaged the pursuit. Moments later, the SUV ran a red light at Century and Sepulveda Boulevards in Westchester and crashed into a compact sedan. The impact caused the SUV to lose control and strike a pole, killing the juvenile driver. Two adult passengers fled but were quickly captured by Airport Police and later treated for minor injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also suffered minor injuries. LAPD’s South Traffic Division and the Multi-Disciplinary Collision Investigation Team (MCIT) are conducting a full investigation.
