On September 9, 2024, law enforcement officers from the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office responded to a disturbance in the parking lot of a Buffalo Wild Wings located in the Pine Trail Plaza in unincorporated West Palm Beach. Upon arrival, they spoke with a manager who was dealing with an individual who was intoxicated and attempting to drive home. Concerned for his safety, the employees called law enforcement to prevent him from driving under the influence. The officers found the individual, later identified as John, who was visibly intoxicated and upset about being refused service at Buffalo Wild Wings. They informed him that he was trespassed from the Pine Trail Plaza, including the restaurant. John left the property after being warned. Later that night, John called the Palm Beach Sheriff's Office nonemergency line multiple times, claiming he was being followed by deputies. When officers arrived at the scene, John insisted that his vehicle had been towed from the parking lot. The officers explained that the vehicle had been impounded due to being left after hours. As the situation escalated, Sergeant Mark arrived on the scene and attempted to speak with John. However, John became agitated and aggressive, putting his finger in Sergeant Mark's face and using inappropriate language. Concerned for their safety, the officers attempted to take John into custody, but he resisted arrest. Due to John's physical resistance, he was taken to the ground and eventually placed in handcuffs. He was then transported to the Palm Beach County Jail.
