On July 6, 2025, at approximately 11:05 p.m., Sgt. Roary Miller and Police Officers David Smentkowski, Alexander Miller, Frank Losurdo, and Mario Rodriguez responded to the 50 block of Washington Street on reports of a fight next to a vehicle. A man, later identified as a 28-year-old male of Bergenfield, was found sitting inside a car that matched a description of the vehicle given by callers. He was told to get out of the car. During the on-scene investigation, he tried to walk toward the vehicle, even after being told to stop and stay on the sidewalk. When one of the officers attempted to stop him by holding his arm, he turned and held the officer's arm. He also began to yell at officers and walked into the street as cars were driving by. He was arrested and charged with obstructing the administration of the law and disorderly conduct. He was transported to Hoboken Police Headquarters, processed, and released on a summons. These charges are merely accusations and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty. An arrest is not a finding of guilt: that’s something for a court to decide.
