Today, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) Police Chief Randal Taylor recommended the termination of IMPD Sergeant Eric Huxley following an internal IMPD investigation. These charges stem from a use of force incident involving Sergeant Huxley on September 24, 2021. Sergeant Huxley was assisting another IMPD officer with an arrest on Monument Circle. This incident came to light through internal use of force review procedures. When Chief Randal Taylor learned about the incident on October 6, 2021, he ordered an expedited internal affairs investigation and Special Investigation Unit investigation. Investigators presented a probable cause affidavit to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office on October 8, 2021. Earlier today, the MCPO filed formal charges.
